Thermocouples

For thermal validation applications, thermocouples must be premium grade quality with special accuracy limits in order to pass the calibration process.

For many years, companies have had only one source for validation thermocouples. Those thermocouples were not only expensive but many companies needed to buy two types (22 gauge or 27 gauge) to handle all the applications. The 27 gauge (thin wire) was needed if the 22 gauge was too large for fitting into tight spaces or vials. However, the 27 gauge wire was easy to entangle and susceptible to damage.

Lives provides a cost effective and versatile alternative with Type T, 24 gauge, premium grade thermocouples. Companies can perform most all validations with this one type wire size. In addition to being durable & flexible, more thermocouples can be calibrated at one time.

Most calibration protocols require thermocouples to pass +/- 0.5 uncalibrated high & low points. The Lives thermocouples have an uncalibrated accuracy of +/- 0.25 C at 0C and 130 C to meet this requirement.
